Before:
In Progress (Phase 1):
- Painted walls (free - had the paint)
- Knocked down popcorn texture (not smooth, just less popcorn-y) (free)
- Covered futon with queen sheet and used flat sheet to make dust ruffle ($29.99)
- Shelving from Target in back: 4 units ($80.00)
- Added baseboards to bottom of shelving (approx $15)
- Made awning (free - had the fabric and used shelving braces we had to make the frame)
- Roman shade under awning ($7.99 on clearance from Linens and Things - reg $59.99)
- Covered toy box & made pillows to make a window seat (free - had all the fabric)
Considering the futon cover I almost purchased cost $159 I'd say I did pretty darn good ;) I figured if it got something on it I could throw it in the wash, or I could easily change the color!!
Phase 2 coming sometime Fall 2011 ;)

You should think about painting the ends of the futon pink or white! :) unless you already have a different idea for seating. I love the colors!
